Labels and forwarding
Panda labels every message with your own labels and can forward it to whoever should have it.
What Panda does with each message
When a message arrives on a claimed inbox, Panda reads it once and gives it:
- A label from your list, and how sure it is.
- A one-line summary, and a longer one of two or three sentences.
- The facts the sender wrote, like a budget, a date or an order number.
- Urgent, when it can't wait.
- A suggested next step, from the label.
You see the label and summary in the list, and the rest in the Panda Intelligence panel beside a message.
Your labels
A new account starts with only Other (real messages that fit no label) and Spam. Get set up asks what your inbox is about, and Panda suggests labels from your answer; you can also start from a ready-made list. Accounts from before start with Sales lead, Support, Partnership, Billing, Feedback and Job application. Change them any time in Teach Panda, then Labels.
Each label has:
- A name, up to 40 characters.
- What counts as this label: Panda reads this to pick one, so say what counts.
- A next step: Reply, Archive, or forward to sales, support, partnerships, finance or hiring.
- A colour.
You can have up to 12, plus Other and Spam. Removing a label moves its messages to Other when you save.
Before saving, Preview shows how many of your recent messages would get a different label with the new list. After saving, you can re-classify past messages.
One list or one per inbox
With several inboxes, Applies to picks which list you're editing: the shared list, used by every inbox without its own, or an inbox's own labels.
Fixing a label
If Panda got it wrong, change the label in the Panda Intelligence panel. Labels you keep changing show up in Teach Panda under Needs you, so you can sharpen what counts.
Forwarding on arrival
Give a label a forward next step and an email address, and its messages are forwarded there as they arrive. The person at that address gets an email first and has to confirm: until they do, nothing is sent to them.
A message is only forwarded when Panda is sure of the label. Spam is never forwarded. Forwarded messages show Forwarded in the list.
Answering on its own
A label can also answer on its own from your notes, on Pro and Business. See Replies.
