Email, Slack and webhook notifications
Where each new message is sent besides your inbox, and how to see that every connection works.
Where messages go
Each inbox sends every real message to your email, and to Slack and a webhook if you add them. Spam is never sent anywhere. Set it in the inbox's Settings, then Where messages go.
By default, messages are emailed to you. To send them to someone else, type their address in Email. We email them a link to confirm first; until they click it, messages still go to you.
Keep in InboxPanda only turns the emails off. Slack and webhooks still get every message.
Slack
Press Add to Slack, pick the channel, and allow it. Each new message is posted there, and the setting shows Posting to and the channel's name.
Or use a webhook URL instead: create an incoming webhook in Slack and paste its URL, which starts with https://hooks.slack.com/.
Webhook
Paste a URL, and each message is sent to it as JSON. It works with Zapier, Make and n8n. Every request is signed so you can check it came from InboxPanda. See Webhooks and signatures.
Send a test
Send a test sends a sample to your Slack and your webhook, and says whether each one was delivered.
Summary email
Besides the email per message, you can get a summary: what was answered, forwarded or kept out as spam, and what still needs you. Choose Weekly (Mondays at 7:00 UTC), Daily (every morning, on Pro and Business) or Off in Account settings. It's only sent when something came in.
Connections
Connections, in the sidebar, lists every way messages come in and go out, with whether each one works:
- Messages in: each form, with its last message; each forwarded address, with its last email; and the addresses on your own domain.
- Where messages go: each Slack channel and webhook, with its last delivery, and your domains, with how many of their DNS records are in place.
When something needs you, the sidebar shows a dot next to Connections. That's when a forwarded address is waiting for its first email, when one that usually gets email most weeks has gone quiet, or when the last delivery to Slack or a webhook failed. A failed row says why, and has Send test to try again once you've fixed it.
