Spam
How spam stays out of your inbox and your email, and how to correct a mistake.
How spam is caught
Every message goes through two checks:
- The spam filter, on every inbox, every plan. It catches the usual bot traffic before anything else happens.
- Panda, which reads each message on a claimed inbox and labels the ones that are spam.
Spam goes to the Spam folder. You aren't emailed about it, and it isn't sent to Slack, your webhook or anyone you forward to. Panda doesn't draft a reply to it.
On the form side, the spam trap helps: a hidden field that people never see and bots fill in. The install code has it already. See Putting a form on your site.
A real message in Spam
Open it and press Not spam, or press !. It moves back to the inbox, and you trust its sender: their next messages skip the spam checks.
Spam in your inbox
Press Report spam, or !. It moves to Spam, and messages like it are more likely to be caught next time.
Clearing it out
Messages in Spam are deleted for good after 30 days. To delete one sooner, open it and press Delete forever. This can't be undone.
Trash
Deleting a message moves it to Trash. It's kept there 30 days, and you can put it back where it came from until then. If Panda had an automatic answer waiting for that message, deleting it stops the answer, which becomes a draft.
